Preparing for a Colonoscopy

Proper preparation is the single biggest factor in a successful, accurate colonoscopy. Follow this guide closely, and call us with any questions along the way.

3 Days Before

  • Avoid seeds, nuts, and whole grains
  • Stop iron supplements if instructed
  • Confirm your ride home is arranged

1 Day Before

  • Switch to a clear-liquid diet only
  • Begin your prescribed bowel prep solution as directed
  • Stay near a bathroom once the prep begins working

Day of Your Procedure

  • Complete the second dose of prep as instructed
  • Do not eat or drink anything after the cutoff time given
  • Arrive on time with your ride arranged
Most important: Following the prep instructions closely is the single biggest factor in getting an accurate, complete exam.
